Why the question spiked
Dead Rails had an unusually busy October: Dead of Night acts on 20, 24 and 31 October, plus The Hollow platform quest from 22 October to 2 November. Search interest and concurrent players both rose into that window.
The Hollow ended on 2 November 2026. A post-event drop is expected and is not the same as a permanent decline. The useful question is whether players who arrived for the event stay for the base game after the event UI disappears.
What the data cannot establish
The export begins in October 2025, after the January 2025 creation date. It cannot measure a decline from launch. A Trends index is relative interest, not search volume, player retention or a concurrent-player history.
One API snapshot shows an active population at that instant but cannot prove long-term growth or decline. The 13,126 figure is a single check on 3 November 2026, not an average. Discord membership is a cumulative count, not a daily active-user metric.

Questions
Is Dead Rails dying?
The 3 November snapshot shows 13,126 concurrent players and the incomplete event week has elevated relative search interest. These observations do not establish retention or a long-term trend.
Why did Dead Rails fall off?
The most likely short-term cause is the end of the October event window, including The Hollow on 2 November. Seasonality and normal post-update cooling are separate explanations that this data cannot isolate.
Are Trends values monthly searches?
No. They are a normalized 0–100 relative index; the incomplete week is not directly comparable to a full week.
